The ecology-booster, Mangrove plant has the ability to absorb carbon from the surrounding environment at rates of 4 to 5 times compared to any other plant.

Preserving the environment is a moral value and a national responsibility

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) organized on Saturday, a volunteer day, in the Jahra Reserve, during which 1,000 seedlings of mangroves were planted.

This was done in cooperation with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), the General Authority for the Environment, the Volunteer Seeking Team and the Al-Shamiya Youth Center.

KNPC in a statement said that the event was held in the presence of the CEO of the Corporation, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Saud, the company’s CEO, Dha’aAl-Khatib, along with a number of oil leaders, and a large group of employees in the Corporation and its subsidiaries.

Additionally, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Saud said that the Foundation and its subsidiaries will continue with their serious efforts in preserving the Kuwaiti environment. He praised the great environmental impact that the Mangrove plant has, specifically itsability to absorb carbon from the surrounding environment at rates of approximately 4 to 5 times, compared to any other plant.

Furthermore, Al-Saud explained that the environmental return of this plant doubled the global trend, to expand its cultivation to reach the goal of carbon neutrality, which is in line with the Kuwaiti oil sector’s 2050 strategy, for energy transformation.

Meanwhile, Al-Khatib stressed that KNPC spares no effort in terms of protecting the environment, pointing to the many environmental projects and initiatives that the company has contributed and adopted, over the past years.

He pointed out that the company had previously planted 1,500 seedlings of Mangroves in the Jahra Reserve, last October. This was part of its plan to plant 9,000 similar seedlings in the reserve, during the coming period.

In this context, Al-Khatib stressed that preserving the environment is a moral value and a national responsibility that the company seeks to devote forthe new generations.
