Kuwait is strengthening its position in advanced healthcare by expanding specialized hematology services at Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Hospital, where three dedicated clinics are giving highly focused care for patients with complex blood disorders under the leadership of nationally trained specialists.
The initiative marks another milestone in the Ministry of Health’s strategy to shift from conventional treatment models to precision, patient-centered care.
By introducing disease-specific clinics alongside its existing general hematology services, the hospital is providing more personalized diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management in line with internationally recognized clinical standards.
At the heart of the expansion is the Hematological Malignancies and Myelodysplastic Syndromes Clinic, headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Abdulkarim.
Operating through weekly consultations, the clinic manages around 32 patients each month and has treated more than 220 patients since its launch.
A multidisciplinary team comprising hematologists, specialist nurses, and a clinical pharmacist works together to ensure tailored treatment plans and close monitoring of therapies.
Complementing these services is the Thrombosis Clinic, supervised by Dr. Ali Al-Juraibi, which provides expert care for patients suffering from blood clotting disorders.
The clinic attends to approximately 30 patients every month and has served more than 240 beneficiaries, reflecting growing demand for specialized vascular and hematological care.
The hospital has also established a Hereditary Bleeding Disorders Clinic, led by Dr. Anwar Al-Masbahi, offering dedicated consultations twice each month for patients living with inherited bleeding conditions. Since its inauguration, the clinic has provided care to around 50 patients through highly specialized assessment and treatment programmes.
All three clinics operate under the supervision of Dr. Huda Al-Sahaf, whose multidisciplinary approach brings together hematologists, specialist nurses, rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, obstetricians and gynecologists, while drawing on expertise from other medical specialties whenever required. This integrated model ensures comprehensive care tailored to the unique needs of every patient.
Director of Jaber Hospital and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Dr. Nada Al-Hassan, said the expansion reflects the Ministry of Health’s commitment to developing highly specialized medical services while investing in qualified national talent.
She noted that strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration not only improves treatment outcomes but also enhances the overall patient experience through evidence-based care.
Meanwhile, Dr. Asil Al-Awadhi described the specialized clinics as a model for integrated healthcare, where collaboration across multiple medical disciplines enables accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment plans.
She said the initiative underscores the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to elevate healthcare quality and ensure patients receive advanced medical services that meet the highest international standards.
