IWG organizes an exclusive ‘Around the World in the Garden’ VIP tour at Julaia Bay

The International Women’s Group (IWG), together with distinguished women ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from countries whose plants are featured in the garden, had the honor of being the very first visitors welcomed this year into the private botanical sanctuary of Sheikha Sherifa Jaber A. Al-Sabah.

Held on November 29, 2025, the VIP tour offered guests a remarkable journey titled “Around the World in the Garden,” an immersive experience that brought together plant species from across five continents. Many of which have successfully grown and thrived in Kuwait for the first time.

As the garden opens to visitors only once a year, Sheikha Sherifa’s personal invitation was a rare and deeply appreciated honor for IWG members and the attending diplomatic community.

The President of the International Women’s Group, Spouse of Georgian Ambassador, Mrs. Marika Kochlamazashvili expressed heartfelt appreciation to Sheikha Sherifa Jaber A. Al-Sabah, for granting the group the privilege of visiting this extraordinary sanctuary, a true paradise flourishing with precious plants from around the world.

She emphasized that Sheikha Sherifa’s passion and dedication not only bring the wonders of nature closer to the community, but also inspire a deeper awareness and admiration for the immense beauty of our planet Earth.

Julaia Bay is a private garden established in 2010, now recognized as one of Kuwait’s most diverse and pioneering botanical environments. Many exotic plants showcased there have bloomed for the first time not only in Kuwait but in the entire Gulf region. Each passage revealed rare species, botanical curiosities, and stories of seeds that crossed oceans before finding new life in Kuwait’s soil.

Sheikha Sherifa personally guided the tour, generously sharing the history and scientific background behind each tree and plant. Guests learned about the environmental principles essential to sustaining the garden, such as the importance of water features, soil balance, and microclimates carefully cultivated within the space.

The day-long program blended nature, culture, and hospitality. Visitors enjoyed: Live music throughout the pathways, a specialty ice-cream corner offering unique, garden-inspired flavors, a floral bouquet station where guests could create personalized arrangements, a presentation from one of Kuwait’s well-known organic farmers, showcasing fresh local produce.

Each experience was thoughtfully curated to enrich the atmosphere and celebrate the diversity of nature.

This garden is a clear example that greening the environment and caring for nature are among the most important responsibilities, ensuring a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.
