Aligned with the International Organization for Migration’s Strategic Plan (2024-2028), the Global Appeal for 2025 will focus on adapting to evolving migration dynamics and humanitarian needs with agility and foresight.
• Mazen AboulHosn, IOM Chief of Mission in Kuwait, said, “The Global Appeal 2025 is a testament to our commitment to addressing the complex challenges of migration and displacement, and with the support of our partners, including countries like Kuwait, we can make a significant impact on the lives of millions in need.”
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has launched its Global Appeal for 2025, aiming to raise $8.2 billion to support over one hundred million people worldwide. Aligned with IOM’s Strategic Plan (2024-2028), the initiative focuses on adapting to evolving migration dynamics and humanitarian needs with agility and foresight.
The appeal is structured around three strategic objectives:
- Saving lives and protecting people on the move: This includes delivering multi-sectoral humanitarian aid to 55 million people, integrating protection-centered and climate-smart approaches, and enhancing local capacities through the Localization Framework.
- Driving solutions for displacement: IOM will focus on sustainable and durable solutions for 39 million people, involving community-based planning, resilience-building initiatives, and expanding peacebuilding and stabilization programs to address the root causes of displacement.
- Facilitating pathways for regular migration: This aims to enhance regular migration pathways, ensuring they are effective and beneficial for migrants and their countries of origin, transit, and destination. It includes supporting labor mobility, resettlement programs, and combating human trafficking and exploitation.
The Global Appeal 2025 is a comprehensive strategy designed to mobilize resources effectively and ensure that IOM can respond proactively to global migration challenges.
Mazen AboulHosn, IOM Chief of Mission in Kuwait, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “The Global Appeal 2025 is a testament to our commitment to addressing the complex challenges of migration and displacement. Today, we are celebrating International Migrants Day. This day gives us a special opportunity to spotlight the invaluable contributions of millions of migrants around the world. It’s also a day to highlight the increasingly complex environment in which migration occurs.”
He added, “With the support of our partners, including countries like Kuwait, we can make a significant impact on the lives of millions of people in need.”
Migrants play critical roles in labor markets, filling skills gaps, driving innovation and entrepreneurship, boosting economic growth, and providing a lifeline to families and communities back home, driving development.
