Interior Ministry foils attempt to smuggle 110 kilograms of hashish

The Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the General Administration of Customs, intercepted a major drug smuggling operation on Wednesday at Shuwaikh Port.

The authorities have taken two individuals into custody who were attempting to smuggle approximately 110 kilograms of hashish, cleverly concealed within marble slabs arriving from a foreign country.

According to a statement from the Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior, extensive investigations and thorough inspection procedures led to the arrest of the suspects.

One of the individuals is of Arab nationality, while the other is believed to be a bedoun holding African nationality. The two were reportedly working in collaboration with a third party abroad, identified as a citizen of a Gulf country.

In a related development, law enforcement also conducted a raid at the residence of one of the accused, where they found 6,000 Captagon pills, 5 grams of the narcotic drug Shabu, and a sensitive scale used in the preparation and distribution of narcotics.

The Ministry confirmed that all suspects will be referred to the relevant authorities for legal action. It reiterated its firm commitment to safeguarding national security and continuing efforts to track down and prosecute anyone involved in smuggling or distributing illegal substances.

The Ministry emphasized that its security forces remain vigilant and will not hesitate to take decisive legal measures to protect the public from the dangers posed by drug trafficking.
