“Interior Ministry” bans staff for appearances, posts on any media

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior issued a circular to all its sectors, emphasizing the need to maintain confidentiality regarding work-related information, documents, and incidents. It also instructed employees not to share personal matters or photos of Ministry staff in military uniform through any communication channels, including electronic means.

The circular also instructed employees not to make statements or appear in interviews across media outlets and social media without permission from the General Department of Security Relations and Media. Additionally, it prohibited appearing in media or social media while on duty.

The Ministry emphasized that this decision aims to maintain the confidentiality and privacy of security work, preventing any illegal exploitation or misuse of information or images that could impact security or harm the reputation of the security institution.

Furthermore, the Ministry stressed the importance of adhering to the circular’s content and warned that any violation would lead to referral for investigation by the competent authority, with potential disciplinary or criminal accountability, depending on the case.
