Information Ministry celebrates 74 years of Kuwait Radio with theatrical tribute

The Ministry of Information marked the 74th anniversary of Kuwait Radio with a theatrical production titled “Here is Kuwait”, a performance that chronicled the station’s journey since its inception on May 12, 1951. The event showcased the station’s evolution and milestones, highlighting its role as a distinguished voice in the Arab media landscape.
In a statement to KUNA, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Dr. Nasser Muhaisen described Kuwait Radio as a cornerstone national institution that has long served as “the voice of Kuwait” to the world. Over the decades, it has contributed significantly to reinforcing national identity, fostering belonging, and promoting the values that define Kuwaiti society.
Dr. Muhaisen emphasized that Kuwait Radio has played a crucial role in the country’s development, remaining a steady presence throughout pivotal moments in its history. He noted its unwavering professionalism, particularly during times of crisis, where it upheld the principles of credible and responsible journalism.
He further highlighted the station’s contributions to cultural and intellectual exchange across the Arab world through collaborative programming, simultaneous broadcasting of major events, and initiatives that reflected a spirit of Gulf and Arab unity. Kuwait Radio, he added, has been instrumental in voicing shared Arab interests and strengthening collective media discourse aimed at regional stability and solidarity.
The celebration also coincides with Kuwait being named the Arab Capital of Media and Culture for 2025 — an accolade Dr. Muhaisen described as a proud testament to the country’s cultural and media leadership. He noted that the recognition underscores Kuwait’s enduring commitment to fostering creativity, encouraging dialogue, and advocating for the nation’s just causes through media.
He concluded by stressing the importance of building on Kuwait’s rich media legacy, calling for continued development, investment in national talent, and expanded cooperation with regional and global media organizations to further Kuwait’s mission of shaping a free, responsible, and forward-looking media environment.
