Historic sites to be restored as community, cultural centers
These projects mark a qualitative leap toward a culturally inspired future, where heritage fuels creativity and national identity thrives through a vibrant creative economy: Minister Al-Mutairi

Minister of Information and Culture, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, said the government is committed to implementing sustainable cultural and developmental projects to restore and revitalize heritage sites, buildings, and urban landmarks across Kuwait.
The goal, he said, is to transform these historic locations into dynamic cultural and community centers.
Al-Mutairi stated that these initiatives are being developed within a comprehensive national vision, under the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and with the direct supervision of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah.
He emphasized that these projects act as a bridge between Kuwait’s past and present, contributing to economic revitalization and the promotion of cultural tourism.
The broader national plan aims to activate cultural infrastructure, encourage community engagement, and revive Kuwait’s urban memory through the creative repurposing of historic spaces.
Among the featured projects are the revitalization of Ahmadi Market and the Red Palace, both of which are being developed as creative and community hubs to support cultural industries and citizen expression.
Al-Mutairi affirmed the National Council’s dedication to preserving Kuwaiti heritage and advancing initiatives that position culture as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
He praised the leadership’s ongoing support in integrating culture with urban planning and social growth, thereby reinforcing Kuwait’s position as a regional and international cultural leader.
He concluded that these projects mark a qualitative leap toward a culturally inspired future, where heritage fuels creativity and national identity thrives through a vibrant creative economy.
