“Higher Education Ministry” sets conditions to ‘high school graduates’ studying abroad
The Ministry of Higher Education announced criteria for high school graduates applying for scholarships for studying abroad, to meet certain academic and procedural requirements.
The Ministry of Higher Education announced today, Monday, the general conditions for including students who have obtained a high school diploma in foreign missions.
In a press release, the Ministry stated that the applicant must be a Kuwaiti national, who has obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent, and must not have a university degree or its equivalent.
Regarding criteria for the applicants, the Ministry set specific conditions for high school graduates applying for foreign scholarships.
These include that applicants must be enrolled in their studies and not have been discontinued when submitting their application. Furthermore, applicants must commit to not changing their specialization until graduation.
The Ministry also specified that applications for inclusion can only be submitted at the start of the first or second semester for the semester-system, or at the beginning of the academic year for the annual-system, with no inclusion allowed during the summer semester.
Moreover, the Ministry clarified that, in addition to the previous conditions, applicants must provide the Ministry and the Cultural Office with their study plan.
This plan must outline the required number of units for graduation and their distribution over the academic semesters or years. Furthermore, applicants must not be employed in any entity, on study leave, or sponsored by another organization. They must also provide proof of this status to the Ministry, as part of the application process.
The Higher Education Ministry further highlighted that, starting from the academic year 2024-2025, students studying at their own expense will not be eligible for inclusion in the Ministry’s scholarship program if they are pursuing specializations not covered by the scholarship plan for the same academic year in the countries where they are studying.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of students providing the Cultural Office with their study plan for their chosen specialization and ensuring that they adhere to it.
The duration of the scholarship mission will be calculated based on the approved study plan, as recommended by the office and the Missions Committee.
On a concluding note, the Ministry clarified that any previous academic semesters for students enrolled in internal missions, except for the language stage, will be deducted from the total mission duration.
