Former football association president and others released on 1,000 dinars bail each
The Criminal Court decided to release the former President of the Kuwait Football Association, Hayef Al-Mutairi, along with his deputy Ahmed Aqla, and Secretary General, Salah Al-Qanai, on a bail of 1,000 dinars each.
The court decided to adjourn the case for judgment on November 25.
The defense of the three detainees appeared before the court and requested their release, stressing that they ‘are not at risk of fleeing’. The court then granted the request for bail.
Earlier, the Public Prosecution had detained the resigned President of the Kuwait Football Association, his Deputy, and the Secretary General for 21 days, pending an investigation into charges of harming the country’s interests and spreading false news.
This had followed during the events surrounding the Kuwait-Iraq World Cup qualifier. The three detained officials were referred to the Central Prison while the investigation was on.
