“Health Ministry” opens 6 new clinics across Kuwait to examine food handlers
The Ministry of Health announced launch of six specialized clinics dedicated to examining food handlers, kindergarten food processors, and food handlers involved in Hajj campaigns.
These clinics, distributed across various health centers in the country’s governorates, aim to streamline the process of obtaining health fitness certificate for citizens, which are necessary for practicing these essential professions.
In this regard, Dr. Fahd Al-Ghamlas, Director of Public Health Department, emphasized that ensuring the health of food handlers is a fundamental pillar in safeguarding society from infectious diseases that can be transmitted through food.
Dr. Al-Ghamlas stated that, priority has been given in streamlining the procedures, by introducing electronic services through the ‘Sahel’ application, enabling individuals to select their preferred center and book an examination appointment with ease.
Explaining further, Dr. Al-Ghamlas said that the tests conducted for food handlers include a visual examination to assess general cleanliness, accurate laboratory tests, and radiological tests to detect infectious respiratory diseases. Additionally, preventive vaccinations are provided such as; the Hepatitis A, and Typhoid vaccines, to further protect public health.
Dr. Al-Ghamlas added that the health centers selected to provide this service include: Al-Saqr Specialized Health Center; Hawalli West Health Center; Abdul Rahman Al-Zaid Health Center; Fahaheel Health Center; Manahi Al-Asimi Health Center and; Al-Oyoun Health Center, in addition to the main centers in East and Farwaniya.
To conclude, Dr. Al-Ghamlas also noted that the health fitness certificate is now granted electronically through the “Sahel” and “Q8seha” applications, eliminating the need for a personal visit to the health center. The certificate is valid for one year and can be renewed online.
