“Health Ministry” affirms HMPV infection rates in Kuwait remain stable

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the rate of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) infections in Kuwait is consistent with the typical seasonal levels.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs, Dr. Munther Al-Hasawi, revealed that influenza and the respiratory virus RSV are the predominant causes of respiratory diseases this season.

Dr. Al-Hasawi noted that there is a platform, Emflu, which monitors respiratory diseases daily across 12 health sites in the country.

Importantly, Dr. Al-Hasawi explained that the Ministry is closely monitoring the developments of respiratory viruses in coordination with international organizations.
