H.H. the Amir attends KFAS awards ceremony honouring scientific excellence
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah patronized and attended the award distribution ceremony of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) for 2022-2023 at Bayan Palace’s theater on Wednesday.
His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, senior sheikhs, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of Kuwait’s Supreme Judicial Council and head of the Court of Cassation judge Dr. Adel Bouresli and senior state officials attended the ceremony.
His Highness the Amir arrived at the venue and was warmly welcomed by KFAS Director-General Dr. Ameenah Farhan and KFAS board members.
The national anthem was played and some Quranic verses recited at the beginning of the event.
Addressing the ceremony, the KFAS Director-General said that the foundation has been in the habit of holding this award distribution ceremony for four decades now with the aim of honoring Kuwaiti and Arab scientists.
She underlined the KFAS’ great goals of developing a pioneering and sustainable research system in order to serve the country’s national development in all fields thanks to concerted efforts, farsightedness and shrewd leadership.
She added that the KFAS has taken upon itself to stimulate and spur innovation, based on its mission of supporting innovation programs, spreading various initiatives to enable Kuwait to address present and future challenges, turn research findings into applied knowledge and technologies and help experts and specialists develop marketable, expandable and developable innovations.
This, she maintained, would put the State of Kuwait, with its leadership, people and scientists, among pioneering countries in view of research and innovation.
In the age of speed and advancement, the foundation has been stepping up its efforts to bolster and cement its competitive edge by means of capitalizing on Kuwait’s human capabilities and experts through boosting global competitiveness, creating a future mentality capable of keeping abreast of advancement, linking reality with the future, and preparing for the future.
She pointed out that the foundation has always worked on scientific, professional and research connection between different segments involving academic and research circles, state agencies, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, society in general, and global institutions.
She commended the foundation as a role model in view of knowledge and disseminating it, developing, supporting scientific research and promoting science, technology and innovation.
She concluded by thanking and appreciating His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for awarding the winners as proof of appreciation to science and scientists.
Finally, His Highness the Amir honored the award winners, while His Highness was given a present on the occasion.
