The First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior, H.E. Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef emphasized that the judiciary has affirmed that nationality is a sovereign issue.
H.E. Al-Yousef, speaking during the celebration of the 53rd UAE National Day, stated that while the door for grievances concerning the withdrawal of funerals has not yet been opened, it will be addressed in the future.
Importantly, H.E. Al-Yousef highlighted a judicial ruling affirming that nationality is a sovereign matter, beyond the scope of litigation at any level, adding that hope everyone understands this, as several lawyers have also addressed this issue.
H.E. Al-Yousef noted that while some lawyers discuss alternatives to judicial recourse, the judiciary has definitively ruled on nationality as a sovereign decision beyond interference, and that a final discrimination ruling has been issued, to conclude the matter.
In response to a question regarding employment and salary status of individuals whose nationalities were withdrawn under Article 8 of the Nationality Law, H.E. Al-Yousef clarified that to be fair, he did not make this statement on his own, but conveyed it based on the instructions and orders of His Highness the Amir.
To conclude on this sensitive issue of nationality, H.E. Al-Yousef further explained that nationality is one matter, while life and living in Kuwait are another. Kuwait is a humane country and will never forget those who have served it. Furthermore, H.E. Al-Yousef noted that the change would involve transitioning from a Kuwaiti employee contract to one with the same salary and privileges.
