Grid holds steady as record electricity load signals onset of summer

Kuwait recorded a new peak electricity consumption of 13,288 megawatts yesterday, as temperatures soared to 42 degrees Celsius—an early indication of rising energy demand with the arrival of summer.

This marks the highest load since the onset of the current heatwave, driven by climbing temperatures, population growth, and widespread use of air conditioning, according to Al-Jarida daily.

Despite the surge, the country’s electricity load indicator remained in the “green” zone, highlighting the effective efforts of the Ministry of Electricity in collaboration with other government entities to manage and reduce energy loads during peak hours.
