GCC condemns, calls for firm int’l response to Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

The Gulf Cooperation Council has strongly condemned ballistic missile and drone attacks by the Houthis targeting Riyadh and Khamis Mushait in Saudi Arabia, describing the escalation as a violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to civilian safety and regional stability.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said the GCC states stand united with Saudi Arabia and fully support the measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement places the attacks within the wider Gulf security framework, with the GCC reaffirming solidarity among its member states in response to threats affecting the security of the region.

Albudaiwi also called on the international community to adopt a firm position to end what he described as repeated Houthi attacks. The GCC condemnation comes as the Gulf bloc continues to emphasize collective security and the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its member states.
