Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ambassadors in China have underscored the importance of further strengthening the strategic partnership with Beijing across political, economic, and cultural spheres.
In a statement issued by the Kuwaiti Embassy in China today, said the remarks came during a meeting of GCC ambassadors at the embassy’s headquarters in Beijing.
The gathering also marked the handover of the rotating chairmanship of the GCC group to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain, as his country assumes leadership of the 46th session of the GCC Supreme Council.
The ambassadors commended Kuwait’s efforts during its chairmanship of the previous session, noting that it reflected the vision of the country’s wise leadership and reinforced the GCC’s active presence regionally and internationally as a force for security, stability, and prosperity, reports Al-Rai daily.
They highlighted the significance of the Gulf–China Summit held in Riyadh in December 2022, which brought together Chinese President Xi Jinping and GCC leaders in the first summit of its kind.
The outcomes of that summit, they said, marked a major milestone in the development of relations between the two sides.
The ambassadors also welcomed the upcoming Arab–China Summit, scheduled to take place in Beijing in the middle of next year, expressing appreciation for the achievements of the first summit held in Riyadh in 2022.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Jassim Al-Najem, noted that the meeting focused on ways to deepen and expand cooperation between the GCC and China in various fields.
He emphasized that continuous coordination and unified efforts serve the shared interests of GCC countries and contribute to strengthening their partnership with China.
Al-Najem added that GCC-China relations have witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, reaffirming the commitment of Gulf states to supporting initiatives that enhance this strategic collaboration.
