Foreign Ministry presents plan to digitize diplomatic accounts
The initiative aims to address regulatory concerns, enhance efficiency, and expedite the completion of financial transactions related to military, cultural, and health offices through Kuwait’s embassies abroad, ensuring better governance and the preservation of public funds.

• Shereeda Abdullah Al-Mousherji, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, announced the flag-raising ceremony at Bayan Palace on February 2 to mark Kuwait’s national celebrations.
The Council of Ministers convened its weekly meeting on Tuesday at Bayan Palace, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, Al Qabas newspaper reported.
Following the session, Shereeda Abdullah Al-Mousherji, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, issued the following statement: On the occasion of the flag-raising ceremony, which will be held at Bayan Palace on Sunday, February 2, marking the start of Kuwait’s national celebrations, the Council of Ministers extends its sincere congratulations to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah—may God protect him—His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah—may God protect him—and the noble people of Kuwait. The council prays to the Almighty to bless Kuwait with continued prosperity and well-being, year after year.
Outcomes of the World Economic Forum
Meanwhile, on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Noora Suleiman Al-Fassam, briefed the Council of Ministers on the outcomes of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The forum took place in Davos from January 20 to 24, 2025. In her speech, she highlighted expectations and aspirations regarding economic development prospects amid prevailing challenges and opportunities.
She also underscored key global challenges for 2025, including geopolitical risks, climate change, and the risks associated with artificial intelligence.
Emphasizing the need for close collaboration between the public and private sectors, she stressed the importance of leveraging technology to drive economic growth.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, briefed the Council of Ministers on the outcomes of his visit last Friday to the brotherly Lebanese Republic.
He was accompanied by Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The briefing covered his meetings with Lebanese officials, including the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri; caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati; Prime Minister-designate, Dr. Nawaf Salam; and Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullah Buhabib.
Discussions reaffirmed the GCC’s unwavering commitment to supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity, while emphasizing the importance of comprehensive political reforms to help Lebanon overcome its crises and restore a dignified life for its people.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers reviewed a visual presentation by Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahyaand senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the institutional resource automation system (mechanization of diplomatic mission accounts).

Meanwhile, the Council of Ministers reviewed the recommendations outlined in the minutes of the Ministerial Committee for Economic Affairs. In this context, Dr. Mahmoud Abdulaziz Mahmoud Bushehri, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, briefed the council on the measures taken by his ministry regarding the white paper on the energy transition in the State of Kuwait.
3,000 megawatts gas turbine power plant
Dr. Bushehri also informed the council that on Monday, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy signed a memorandum of understanding with ABC Transco Energy, in partnership with its strategic ally, General Electric Vernova, as a developer, operator, and investor.
The agreement aims to establish a power plant with a total capacity of up to 3,000 megawatts, utilizing gas turbines and including all necessary infrastructure.
Dr. Bushehri emphasized that the memorandum aligns with the directives of the political leadership and the government’s strategic vision to enhance private sector participation in development projects, particularly in electricity generation, under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model.
The Council of Ministers also reviewed the reports of the Financial Controllers’ Offices for the fiscal years 2023/2024 and 2024/2025. It decided to refer these reports to the Government Performance Follow-up Authority to coordinate with the relevant government agencies, ensuring that the findings and recommendations are effectively utilized and appropriate measures are taken in accordance with applicable regulations to serve the public interest.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers reviewed several agenda items and approved them. It also referred certain matters to the relevant ministerial committees for further study and report preparation, completing the necessary procedures for their implementation.
Revocation of Kuwaiti Nationality
Furthermore, the Council of Ministers adopted the minutes of the Supreme Committee for the Revocation of Kuwaiti Nationality, which included cases of loss, annulment, and revocation of Kuwaiti citizenship for certain individuals, in accordance with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 15 of 1959 on Kuwaiti nationality and its amendments.
