Fishing, agriculture, grazing sectors get 3 months grace period to comply with wage transfer rules

The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) announced that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, has asked the concerned departments to grant a three-month transitional grace period for owners of fishing, agriculture, and grazing activities to regularize the transfer of their workers’ wages through official banking channels.
In a statement, the Authority said the decision reflects the leadership’s commitment to supporting labor market stability and ensuring the full implementation of the Labor Law and its related regulations.
The grace period, which ends in late January 2026, allows employers in these sectors to adjust their wage transfer procedures in line with the law, reports Al-Rai daily.
The directives are based on Article (57) of Law No. (6) of 2010 concerning private sector employment, which requires all employers to pay workers’ wages via local financial institutions.
PAM explained that the deadline considers the technical challenges some employers face in meeting banking requirements. The grace period provides time to open bank accounts for employees in coordination with local banks and to align with the Authority’s wage transfer monitoring system.
The Authority emphasized that this measure marks a step toward the full enforcement of the wage transfer system across all sectors, reinforcing transparency, protecting workers’ rights, and promoting discipline within Kuwait’s labor market.
