Fish market sees abundant supply of mead fish after fishing permitted in Kuwait Bay
Al-Sarheed is optimistic about stability in mead prices in the coming days, making fresh local fish more accessible and affordable for consumers.

The Kuwait fish market witnessed an abundant supply of mead fish over the past two days following the decision to allow fishing in Kuwait Bay.
Fishermen delivered around 1,000 baskets of mead — each weighing 20 kilograms and priced between 50 and 65 dinars — helping to boost supply and ease market shortages.
Abdullah Al-Sarheed, Chairman of the Fishermen’s Union, said that there is ongoing coordination between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Public Authority for Manpower to regulate market operations and curb practices that cause price inflation during auctions.
Al-Sarheed noted that authorities are monitoring violators who manipulate prices, including street vendors who buy large quantities of fish, thereby reducing availability for ordinary consumers.
He emphasized that the Union continues its efforts to ensure adequate supplies of local fish — particularly mead, which remains in high demand — to stabilize prices and achieve balance in the market.
Expressing optimism, Al-Sarheed said he expects prices to stabilize in the coming days, making fresh local fish more accessible and affordable for consumers.
