European Troika and Iran resume direct nuclear talks in Istanbul

Delegations arrived today morning at the Iranian consulate in Istanbul for direct negotiations between Tehran and the European Troika — comprising France, Britain, and Germany.

This marks the first high-level meeting between the two sides since the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June, a development that dramatically escalated tensions in the region, according to Reuters.

The talks aim to gauge Tehran’s willingness to reach a solution that could prevent further international sanctions. Despite the diplomatic outreach, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated ahead of the meeting that Iran’s position remains firm and unchanged.
In a video statement carried by state media, Araghchi declared, “Our uranium enrichment activities will continue. We will not relinquish this right of the Iranian people.”

He emphasized that Friday’s discussions are a continuation of previous dialogues and called on the international community to recognize Iran’s consistent stance.
The outcome of these talks may determine whether diplomatic channels can be revived to de-escalate the growing crisis surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
