A marital dispute in Salwa ended at the police station after a woman from an unidentified Gulf state reportedly gulped down seven magnesium tablets when her husband told her he intended to take another wife.
According to a report received by the Hawalli Governorate operations room the woman attempted to end her life inside her home in Salwa.
A police patrol was dispatched immediately to the victim’s home, and personnel from the medical emergency services rushed the woman to the Mubarak Hospital for treatment.
Security sources said the woman informed authorities that she had taken the pills following an argument with husband who said he planned to take a second wife, Al-Anba daily reports.
According to a medical report her condition stabilized after receiving treatment, and she was later discharged from the hospital.
Authorities have registered a case and police are investigating to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
