Emergency Police smart patrol systems give boost to Kuwait’s internal stability
A highly responsive and adaptable force that collaborates with other departments to ensure public safety

Brigadier Faris Al-Qahtani, Director General of the General Department of Emergency Police, speaks of the vital responsibilities and modern operational strategies of his department.
Tasked with both safeguarding the public security and ensuring smooth traffic movement, he says, the Emergency Police play a key role in Kuwait’s internal stability, reports Al-Anba daily.
Brigadier Al-Qahtani discussed how the department’s comprehensive deployment plans, advanced surveillance systems, and real-time patrol monitoring are enhancing efficiency, accountability, and rapid response capabilities across the country.
Each patrol is monitored via GPS and equipped with three cameras (front, rear, and internal) to document operations, protect personnel, and provide evidence in case of complaints or incidents.
He disclosed, the key functions of the Emergency Police include:
- Responding to emergency and security reports within 3 to 7 minutes.
- Supporting the General Traffic Department by managing congestion, attending accidents, and conducting campaigns.
- Handling criminal reports such as fights, thefts, and drug abuse cases.
- Deploying patrols near girls’ schools to combat loitering behavior.
- Using advanced training to prepare personnel for rapid intervention, report analysis, and technology use.
Emergency patrols are closely monitored, and deviations from assigned sectors without justification lead to investigations and penalties. Their performance is evaluated using real-time tracking systems, report documentation, and video recordings.
He concluded by saying, the Emergency Police are a highly responsive and adaptable force that collaborates with other departments to ensure public safety, order, and moral conduct, particularly in high-risk or sensitive areas.
