Education Ministry begins receiving textbooks ahead of new school year
Kuwait allocates 20 transport vehicles for school textbook distribution; first batches of 11th and 12th-grade textbooks have been delivered
The Ministry of Education has begun receiving the first batches of new textbooks at its Supplies and Warehouses Department as preparations intensify for the upcoming academic year.
The government printing press under the Ministry of Information has completed delivery of the first batch of the 11th- and 12th-grade curricula and is continuing to print several intermediate-stage textbooks, with deliveries expected to be completed before September 1.
Alongside the government-printed books, estimated at around 2 million textbooks, private printing presses have also started delivering batches of the curricula they were contracted to produce. The first deliveries include parts of curricula for several grades, particularly the new 10th-grade curriculum, with the remaining books scheduled to be delivered before the end of August.
The new academic year is scheduled to begin on September 6 for teaching and administrative staff, followed by September 13 for students. The Supplies and Warehouses Department has allocated about 20 half-lorry transport vehicles to distribute textbooks to schools across Kuwait.
The vehicles will also transport school and office furniture to five new schools in Al-Mutlaa and West Abdullah Al-Mubarak, including thousands of chairs and tables as well as technical equipment for teachers’ rooms and school administrations.
Separately, Kuwait University Acting Secretary General Dr Noura Al-Suwaih asked the Ministry of Education’s Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs, Hamad Al-Hamad, to nominate social workers to supervise the field training of male and female social work students.
Al-Suwaih said the university is seeking the ministry’s approval to host the students for training as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and develop their professional skills in preparation for the labor market.
She requested a list of qualified social workers to supervise the training, with candidates required to hold a bachelor’s degree in social work and at least seven years of professional experience. The training is scheduled to take place during the first semester from December 16 to 21, for five hours a day on Mondays and Wednesdays.
