Education Ministry bans all fundraising activities in schools

The Ministry of Education has issued a general circular to all school administrations — both public and private — prohibiting all forms of fundraising within schools. This includes collections from students, parents, or staff members.
Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities, Maryam Al-Enezi, emphasized that Kuwait’s charity work is a leading example in the Arab and Islamic worlds, with a long-standing legacy that reflects the values of generosity and solidarity in Kuwaiti society, according to Al-Rai daily.
She explained that the decision follows directives from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Department of Family and Childhood Affairs to temporarily halt all charitable fundraising. The move aims to develop a new monitoring mechanism to ensure the sustainability and integrity of charitable activities.
Al-Enezi also noted that organizing exhibitions or events with a charitable nature — or those intended to collect monetary or in-kind donations—is strictly prohibited. She stressed that any violation of the circular will subject the school to legal accountability under the Ministry’s applicable rules and regulations.
