807 grievances received on Kuwaiti citizenship withdrawal cases within two days

Just two days after the window opened for submitting grievances related to the withdrawal, revocation, or loss of Kuwaiti citizenship, a government source said the Grievances Committee — chaired by Counselor Ali Al-Dhubaibi — has received approximately 807 complaints.

A reliable source said the committee continues to receive grievances via the electronic platform during official working hours, Sunday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m according to Al-Qabas daily.
He emphasized that each grievance is being processed in accordance with a well-defined procedure.

Complaints are thoroughly categorized, and a specialized team reviews the accompanying documents and evidence to prepare detailed reports for each case.

“Every file related to the withdrawal, revocation, or loss of Kuwaiti citizenship will be given the necessary time for examination and evaluation,” the source affirmed.

The committee, operating under the Council of Ministers, officially began accepting grievances on Sunday from individuals affected by decrees or decisions involving the withdrawal, revocation, or loss of citizenship, including cases where citizenship certificates were seized.

The grievance process is divided into two stages:

  • First Stage: Covers decrees and decisions issued between February 20, 2024, and April 30, 2025, and published in the Official Gazette (Kuwait Today). Affected individuals have 60 days from May 4 to submit their grievances.
  • Second Stage: Will address future decrees and decisions issued after April 30, 2025. Grievances in this category must be submitted within 60 days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.

According to a recent decree by the Council of Ministers amending the committee’s mandate, it is also tasked with submitting recommendations and proposals concerning the reviewed cases directly to the Council.
