‘Driving Without a Phone’ to provide detailed explanation of new traffic law

The General Traffic Department will hold a press conference Wednesday at its Traffic Operations headquarters in South Al-Sabahiya under the slogan ‘Driving Without a Phone’.
The event will be attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, Major General Yousef Al-Khudda, GTD Director-General, Brigadier Jamal Al-Foudari, and the department’s assistant directors, according to Al-Jarida daily.
The conference will present an overview of the department’s latest statistics and provide a detailed explanation of the new traffic law, set to come into effect on the April 22.
Officials will also outline the updated fines and penalties for violations under the new regulations. Additionally, there will be a comparative analysis of last year’s and this year’s traffic data, alongside insights into the performance of modern surveillance systems and how road users have responded since the law was announced.
Meanwhile, as part of Unified Gulf Traffic Week celebrations, the Traffic Department will organize a mini awareness exhibition at Al Khairan Mall on Thursday and Friday evenings. During the event, it will also facilitate the removal of blocks on serious traffic violations.
Further public engagement will take place at The Avenues Mall, where Traffic Week activities will officially kick off next Sunday in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and other security leaders.
