Dramatic night-time chase ends with arrest, seizure of alcohol, cash

The Ministry of Interior Kuwait has announced a security operation in the Hawalli Governorate led to the arrest of two persons for possessing bottles of alcohol with intent to traffic.
In a press statement, the ministry said patrols from the Operations Department of the Hawalli Security Directorate grew suspicious of a vehicle parked under the cover of darkness without lights during routine patrol in the area.
As officers approached, the driver stepped on the gas pedal and attempted to flee and ignored orders to stop, prompting a chase that ended with the vehicle being forced to pull over.
At this point both the driver and his companion resisted arrest before being overpowered, arrested and handcuffed.
A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 85 bottles suspected to contain imported alcohol, and 4,710 dinars in cash.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to trading in alcohol. It was also discovered that the driver was wanted by law and had an outstanding arrest warrant.
Both individuals, along with the seized items, have been referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
