Diplomatic Heads offer condolences for India’s former PM Manmohan Singh

Following the passing of India's former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on 26 December, several heads of diplomatic missions in Kuwait offered condolences to the man known for his economic reforms in India and his reputation as a gentle statesman respected worldwide.

To offer condolences on the passing of India’s former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, a large number of heads of diplomatic missions visited the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, yesterday morning.

The Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, H. E. Ambassador Khalid Al-Yassin, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Indian people and government on the passing of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Ambassador Khalid Al-Yassin, in a statement to reporters while offering his condolences, expressed high regard for the late Manmohan Singh’s contributions to strengthening the strong ties between Kuwait and India. The Ambassador praised Singh’s virtues, emphasizing that his influence continues to be felt across India.

The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, H. E. Ambassador of Tajikistan, Dr. Zubaydullo Zubaydov, on his behalf and the diplomatic corps in Kuwait; extended his deepest condolences to the Indian Ambassador on the passing of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He described Singh as a great Indian economist and commended the valuable services he provided to both the Indian people and his country.

Bhutan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, H. E. Chitem Tenzin, said that as per Royal Government of Bhutan orders, all Bhutanese Embassies & Consulates hoisted their National Flags at half mast as a mark of respect on passing away of India’s former PM Dr Manmohan Singh.

Ambassador Tenzin stated that, Bhutan mourns the loss of an illustrious and distinguished great son of India and a true friend and mentor for Bhutan. To the world a great Statesman; who tirelessly devoted his life and worked for peace, progress and prosperity of India, its neighbours and the world.

France’s Ambassador to Kuwait, H. E. Olivier Gauvin, conveyed his country’s President, H. E. Emmanuel Macron’s condolences on passing away of India’s former PM Manmohan Singh, which stated that, India has lost a great man, and France a true friend, who had devoted his life to country.

On the other hand, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, H. E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika, expressed his sincere condolences to the Indian government and people on the passing of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away last Thursday, 26 December, at the age of 92.

Ambassador Swaika added that the late Manmohan Singh served as the Prime Minister of India for two consecutive terms from 2004 to 2014, and that India declared a national mourning period of 7 days following his passing.

Furthermore, Ambassador Swaika pointed out that Manmohan Singh enjoyed the respect and appreciation of world leaders, emphasizing his strong relations with Kuwait and his meeting with the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad during His Highness’s visit to India.

Ambassador Swaika explained that the late Manmohan Singh was the architect of reforms and liberalization in the Indian economy, leading a period of significant economic transformations that the Indian people continue to remember. This was evident in the large attendance at his funeral.
