Debt relief process initiated by ministries of Social Affairs, Justice

• The beneficiaries must be Kuwaiti nationals, aged 40 or above, with debts totaling between one thousand and ten thousand dinars.

• The beneficiaries need to have faced travel bans or vehicle seizures between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2022, and should not have received payment in the previous campaign.

Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, announced that the Ministry of Justice “General Administration of Implementation” has been contacted regarding the conditions and controls established by the Committee for Supporting Debtors. This will initiate the process of identifying eligible debtors according to these conditions and controls, and completing the implementation procedures to pay their debts, the Al Rai newspaper reported.

Al-Ajmi said in a press statement that the ministerial committee for supporting Kuwaiti debtors has completed its work and submitted its final report to Dr. Mathal Al-Huwaila, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Child Affairs, and Minister of Youth.

He pointed out the controls set for the beneficiaries: they must be of Kuwaiti nationality, 40 years of age or older, and have a total debt ranging from one thousand to ten thousand dinars.

Additionally, they must be subject to a travel ban or vehicle seizure during the period from January 1, 2013, until December 31, 2022, and must not have received payment in the last campaign.

He added that the types of debt considered are alimony, housing rent, corporate debt, and others, excluding telecommunications company debts and individual debts.
