Deadline passes for challenging Parliament dissolution decree
Following the expiration of the appeal deadlines for challenging the dissolution decree of the National Assembly by the end of last week, recent legislative amendments have rendered the decree immune from judicial challenges. The window for appealing the dissolution decree closed according to legal stipulations.
Yesterday marked the commencement of the appeal period for the decree summoning parliamentary elections scheduled for April fourth. The deadline for lodging appeals against this decree is set to expire on March 12. If no appeals are filed within this timeframe, the decree will similarly become immune from legal challenges.
Moving forward, only three types of cases will remain within the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court for review. These include appeals against the electoral process results, challenges to the membership of elected representatives, and objections to the necessity decree issued for amending the electoral law exclusively.
