Cybersecurity center warns against online fraud and phishing attempts

In light of growing cyber threats, Kuwait’s National Cybersecurity Center issued a public warning on Monday, emphasizing the importance of relying solely on official sources for information. The center stressed that this practice is essential to protect the society from the spread of rumors, misinformation, and malicious digital activities.

In an official statement, the center urged citizens and residents to avoid engaging with unverified or suspicious content online. It cautioned that certain individuals and groups are actively spreading fraudulent links and deceptive messages aimed at phishing or hacking, reports Al-Rai daily.

“These activities are not just a nuisance — they pose a real threat to digital safety,” the center said, warning that such messages may appear legitimate but are designed to compromise personal data or manipulate public opinion.

The center reiterated the need for vigilance, encouraging the public to verify all information through trusted governmental or official platforms and to report any suspicious online activity.

The warning comes as part of broader national efforts to bolster cybersecurity awareness and prevent electronic crimes that could impact individuals, institutions, and national infrastructure.
