Customs officers thwart attempt to smuggle tobacco
Customs officers at the Shuwaikh Port have thwarted the entry of approximately 260,000 bags of banned tobacco, in two different seizures coming from a Gulf country.
Deputy Director General for Customs Ports Affairs, Osama Al-Shami, said in the first attempt, the prohibited substance was hidden among wooden planks.
However, after the X-ray machine showed strange objects inside the planks a thorough yielded the contraband. In the second attempt the suspect had neatly hidden the tobacco sachets inside empty diesel tank.
Director General of the General Administration of Customs, Abdullah Adel Al-Sharhan, thanked the customs employees at land, sea and air ports, for their efforts.
