Community program highlights character building for children and digital-age parenting

The Indian Muslim Association (IMA), under the patronage of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs (Foreign Relations Department), organized a children’s workshop followed by a parenting workshop on Friday, 19 December 2025, at the Jamiatul Islah Auditorium in Rawdha, Kuwait. The event attracted more than 200 participants, including children, parents, and community members.

The workshops were led by renowned life coach and motivational speaker Ateequr Rahman, a visiting scholar from India, and were organized in coordination with IMA’s Weekend Islamic School, Children Circle, and Pearls of Islam units.

The program reflected IMA Kuwait’s continued focus on community development, ethical upbringing, and family empowerment.
The children’s workshop, convened by Osaib, Coordinator of the Children Circle, featured a range of interactive and engaging activities designed to connect meaningfully with young participants.

During the session, Ateequr Rahman highlighted key values for children, including leading a righteous life guided by Islamic principles and good character, developing leadership qualities such as confidence, responsibility, and positive decision-making, and understanding the importance of obedience and respect toward parents, teachers, and elders.

He also emphasized the practice of discipline, honesty, and kindness in daily life, while encouraging children to set goals early to help guide their future aspirations.

Children actively participated throughout the workshop, making the session both educational and enjoyable while reinforcing strong moral foundations.

The parenting workshop, convened by Musaib Siddiqui, focused on the challenges faced by parents in today’s rapidly evolving digital environment.

Ateequr Rahman provided practical guidance and actionable insights into modern parenting issues, particularly the impact of excessive mobile phone and screen use on children’s mental, emotional, and social development.

The session also addressed strategies to limit unhealthy digital habits, promote balanced and disciplined technology use, encourage positive use of digital tools for learning and personal growth, and strengthen parent-child communication based on trust and emotional bonding.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of parents serving as role models in behavior, digital habits, and moral conduct.

In his concluding remarks and vote of thanks, Mohammed Umar Falahi, President of the Indian Muslim Association Kuwait, stated that building a child’s future is akin to building a nation.

He emphasized the responsibility parents bear in nurturing their children, noting the spiritual accountability associated with parenting and the vital role of parental guidance and supplication in a child’s personal and professional development.

He also expressed appreciation to all participants for their active involvement and extended special gratitude to Ateequr Rahman for delivering well-structured, relevant, and impactful workshops.

The program concluded on an inspiring note, reaffirming the association’s commitment to nurturing morally grounded children, supporting parents, and strengthening families within the community.
