Commerce Ministry forms committee to verify employee certificates

The Commerce Minister formed a committee to verify employees' academic certificates, report irregularities, and ensure compliance with accreditation rules.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Khalifa Al-Ajeel, has issued a decision to form a committee to verify the academic certificates of employees within the ministry and its affiliated bodies, including the Capital Markets Authority, the Competition Protection Authority, the Public Authority for Industry, and the National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, and other bodies.

Article 1: States that a committee will be formed to verify the academic certificates of employees in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and its affiliated bodies. The committee will be led by the Director of the Administrative Affairs Department and will include four additional members.

Article 2: States that the committee will review and verify all post-secondary academic certificates of current employees, ensuring their authenticity and official approval. It will also confirm that certificates issued by foreign institutions are equivalent to Kuwaiti qualifications across the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and its affiliated entities.

Article 3: States that the committee will convene upon the invitation of its Chairman or Vice-Chairman in the Chairman’s absence, at a designated time and place. Meetings require a majority of members, including the Chairman or Vice-Chairman, to be valid. Decisions will be made by majority vote, with the Chairman’s vote breaking any ties.

Article 4: Grants the committee the authority to communicate with any internal or external entity to fulfill its responsibilities. All sectors of the Ministry must fully cooperate and promptly provide any necessary documents or information. The committee also has the right to hear statements from relevant individuals, whether from within or outside the Ministry.

Article 5: Allows the committee to seek assistance from individuals with relevant expertise and experience whenever necessary.

Article 6: Mandates that if the Committee discovers forged, unaccredited, or non-equivalent certificates during its review, it must refer the matter to the Legal Affairs Department for appropriate legal action following applicable laws and procedures.

Article 7: Stipulates that the Committee must prepare a periodic report outlining its proposals and completed recommendations. This report, signed by the Chairman or their deputy in the Chairman’s absence, shall be submitted to the Minister’s office at the beginning of each month.

Article 8: States that the Committee’s term will last for three months from the date of the decision’s issuance, with the possibility of an extension for an additional period.

Article 9: States that no financial rewards will be granted to members of the Central Committee or subcommittees for their participation in its work.

Article 10: States that the competent authorities must implement this decision immediately upon its issuance and notify all concerned parties.
