  • The Ministry of Interior, in a statement from the General Department of Security Relations and Media, said that this update aligns with the security institution’s strategy aimed at enhancing and developing its services for the public.

  • The marine piece number, such as 12345 (a unique identifier for each marine piece), is included in the ownership book along with the administrative number.

The Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that the General Administration of the Coast Guard, through the Maritime Transport Department, has revised the official numbering system for marine vessels, switching to numeric codes instead of Arabic numerals and letters, according to Al Qabas newspaper.

The ministry, in a statement from the General Department of Security Relations and Media, said that this update aligns with the security institution’s strategy aimed at enhancing and developing its services for the public.

It was explained that the new system streamlines the organization and categorization of marine vessels based on their activity type and vessel license, using an administrative number or identification number. This update will be applicable to new registrations and the renewal of ownership certificates.

Sources provided an illustrative example of the new system for the official numbering of marine vessels based on the type of license: fishing (Administrative Number: 10), excursion (Administrative Number: 20), trips (Administrative Number: 30), marine bicycles (Administrative Number: 40), government (Government Number: 50), commercial (Administrative Number: 60), diving (Administrative Number: 70), marine business (Administrative Number: 80).

They added that the marine piece number, such as 12345 (a unique identifier for each marine piece), is included in the ownership book along with the administrative number.

They urged marine vessel owners to comply with the regulations, emphasizing that any misuse of the vessel’s activity or license would result in appropriate legal action.
