Citizen imprisoned for defying Kuwaiti Amir, spreading false news

• The Public Prosecution initiated legal procedures and ordered the Kuwaiti national to be referred to court for a criminal trial.

The Public Prosecution ordered the imprisonment of a citizen for challenging the rights and powers of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, insulting the authority of the state, and broadcasting false news that could weaken the country’s prestige and harm its national interests through his account on the social networking site ‘X.’

On its official account on the social networking site ‘X,’ the prosecution stated that it had initiated the necessary legal procedures and ordered him to be referred to court for a criminal trial.
