China has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East following warnings from US President Donald Trump that he may order large-scale military strikes against Iran in the coming weeks.
At a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stressed that continued military confrontation would only deepen instability in the region.
“Military means cannot fundamentally solve the problem, and escalating conflicts is not in the interest of either side,” Mao said, urging all parties to halt hostilities without delay, reports Al-Rai daily.
Beijing further appealed to the parties involved to end military operations immediately, reiterating its position that dialogue and restraint are the only viable paths to resolving the crisis.
