China on Friday underscored the imperative of a swift end to Iran war to restore peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East regions as well as the need to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping.
In a statement published on its official website and carried by the Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese Foreign Ministry addressed the diplomatic outcomes of Thursday’s summit between President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump in Beijing.
The statement highlighted that both leaders engaged in substantive discussions regarding the situation in Iran.
The ministry stressed that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is a priority for the international community to ensure the “stability and smooth flow” of global industrial and supply chains.
It welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between Washington and Tehran, noting that their commitment to resolving outstanding issues through negotiation has been well-received regionally and internationally.
Reaffirming that “dialogue is the right path and force leads nowhere,” the ministry urged all parties to maintain the current momentum of de-escalation and adhere to the trajectory of a political settlement.
Beijing further emphasized the importance of a comprehensive resolution to the Iranian nuclear dossier that addresses the security concerns of all stakeholders through diplomatic means.
The Ministry highlighted the “heavy toll” the conflict has exacted on the region, noting that its repercussions have severely disrupted the global economy, international trade, and production networks.
It described finding a diplomatic exit from the hostilities-which it termed “unjustifiable”-as a significant benefit for the United States, Iran, and the global community at large.
Concluding its statement, China pledged to continue its collaborative efforts with the international community to facilitate peace talks and play a constructive role in achieving lasting stability across the Middle East.
