CENTCOM announces defensive strikes against Iran

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Tuesday that it had launched “self-defense strikes” against Iran in response to the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter.

CENTCOM added via its X social media account that US Central Command forces began “self-defense strikes against Iran at 5:00 pm Eastern Time today” at the direction of US President Donald Trump, in response to the downing of the US Army Apache helicopter yesterday.

The statement explained that this mission is “a proportionate response to unprovoked Iranian aggression.”

The US President declared today that Iran was responsible for downing the US helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz and vowed to respond to this attack in the near future.

CENTCOM had previously announced in a statement that the crew of the US Army helicopter had been rescued after it was shot down near the Omani coast in the Strait of Hormuz.
