Cassation court delays ruling in high-profile MP cases to April 20

The Court of Cassation has deferred its ruling in the state security cases involving former MPs Hussein Al-Qallaf, Hamad Al-Olayan, and Anwar Al-Fikr, as well as the vote-buying case of former MP Saadoun Hammad and others.

The Court of Appeal had sentenced Hussein Al-Qallaf to two years in prison with hard labor, declined to punish Hamad Al-Alyan, and acquitted Saadoun Hammad of the vote-buying charge.

The Court of Cassation has deferred its ruling to April 20 in the state security cases involving former MPs Hussein Al-Qallaf, Hamad Al-Olayan, and Anwar Al-Fikr, as well as the vote-buying case of former MP Saadoun Hammad and others, reported Arabic daily, Al Rai.

The Court of Cassation also postponed its ruling in the case of former MP Abdullah Fahhad, who is accused of insulting the judiciary. The ruling was deferred after the Court of Appeal suspended a six-month prison sentence against him. The final verdict is now scheduled for the 20th of this month.

The court also decided to postpone the case of MusaedAl-Quraifa, who is accused of insulting the Emir, after the Court of Appeal suspended the two-year prison sentence previously issued against him.

It is worth noting that the Court of Appeal had sentenced Hussein Al-Qallaf to two years in prison with hard labor, declined to punish Hamad Al-Alyan, and acquitted Saadoun Hammad of the vote-buying charge.
