The Ministry of Public Works announced significant progress on the Cairo Street development project, with a completion rate reaching 93% as of today, Wednesday.
Eng. Ahmed Al-Saleh, a spokesperson for the Ministry, highlighted the project’s benefits for commuters in the capital city and Hawalli.
The project encompasses five ground bridges, an elevated flyover bridge, and three underpasses. These improvements aim to significantly enhance traffic flow and overall road efficiency on Cairo Street.
According to reports by Q8-Press, the project incorporates additional user-friendly features along the extensive 9-kilometer stretch.
Pedestrians will benefit from seven designated bridges, while 23 air-conditioned bus stops will provide a more comfortable waiting experience for public transport users.
Project works included crucial upgrades to existing utility services. Sewage and rainwater drainage systems were improved, along with water and electricity lines.
This development was achieved through close collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity and Water.
Eng. Al-Saleh highlighted the incorporation of landscaping along the roadsides, creating a more visually appealing streetscape.
Furthermore, telephone networks were developed in coordination with the Ministry of Communications to ensure continued connectivity.
While nearing completion, the project necessitates caution from drivers. Eng. Al-Saleh urged motorists to exercise care when navigating temporary roads, which will be removed upon full project completion.
