Cabinet directs urgent status amendment of nationality revoked women
Ministerial Council directed agencies to amend the status of women whose nationality was revoked, ensuring equality in benefits and salaries, and to coordinate with the Civil Service Bureau for new employment contracts.
The Council of Ministers has issued a circular to all ministries and government agencies regarding the amendment of the status of women whose nationality has been withdrawn, in accordance with Article (8). The circular directs that the necessary amendments be made as soon as possible to address the matter.
The circular stated that during its meeting on January 21, 2025, the Council of Ministers received an explanation from the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, regarding the application of justice and equality principles for individuals whose nationalities were withdrawn. This was in accordance with Article (8) of Decree Law No. (15) of 1959 and its amendments concerning Kuwaiti nationality. The Council also reviewed the recommendation to amend their conditions and ensure they receive equal benefits and salaries.
The Council issued a decision requesting all government agencies to amend the status of women whose nationalities were previously withdrawn in accordance with Article (8) of Decree Law No. (15) of 1959 and its amendments regarding Kuwaiti nationality. The decision also calls for ensuring their equality in benefits and salaries, and for urgent coordination with the Civil Service Bureau to amend their status by concluding new employment contracts in their workplaces.
