Bosnian foreign minister seeks future investments with Kuwait

Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said his visit to Kuwait aims to discuss common interests and future projects between the two friendly countries.

H.E. Nusret Cancar, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Kuwait, highlighted Kuwait’s early investments in his country post-war, particularly in a large iron and steel factory, and urged Kuwaiti investors to explore opportunities in agriculture and renewable energy.

Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thanked Kuwait for its past support, called for continued assistance in projects, and urged Kuwaiti tourists to visit Bosnia, highlighting a record increase in GCC visitors.

 

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, and his accompanying delegation at Bayan Palace on Thursday morning, on the occasion of his official visit to the country, according to Al-Qabas newspaper.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, the Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince, Lieutenant General Jamal Mohammed Al-Theyab, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs at the Court of His Highness the Crown Prince Mazin Al Essa, and Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs Mohammad Yaqoub Hayatee.

Konaković stated in a press statement on Tuesday that his visit to Kuwait aims to discuss common interests, investment opportunities, and future projects between the two friendly countries.

On the sidelines of his meeting with economic and investment figures, as well as members of the Kuwait Council of Businessmen Association in Bosnia, he expressed his gratitude to Kuwait for its previous support and emphasized the need for continued assistance in projects and investments during the current period.

He called on Kuwaiti tourists to visit his country, noting a significant annual increase in the number of tourists from Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which “broke record numbers last year,” to enjoy Bosnia’s diverse tourist attractions, including its coasts and mountains.

He also explained that his country has received the green light to begin negotiations for European Union membership, presenting a great opportunity for investors to access the European market through Bosnia and Herzegovina while benefiting from skilled labor and low energy costs.

For his part, H.E. Nusret Cancar, the Ambassador of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Kuwait, mentioned that Kuwait was one of the first countries to invest in his country after the war, through the KuwaitInvestment Authority, notably in a large iron and steel factory.

He added that Kuwaiti private sector investments have surpassed those from the government in recent years, encouraging Kuwaiti investors to seize opportunities in Bosnia, particularly in agriculture and renewable energy.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya received minister Konaković at Kuwait International Airport upon his arrival, along with the accompanying delegation.
