Bids for Phase II Doha West seawater desalination plant to open July 22

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has confirmed that the tender for Phase II of the Doha West Seawater Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant project will officially be opened on July 22.

The tender covers the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of the desalination plant, along with the equipment required to increase the alkalinity of the treated water, reports Al-Jarida daily.

According to the sources, if the bids are opened as scheduled and no deadline extensions are issued, the Central Agency for Public Tenders will refer the submissions to the Ministry for technical evaluation and recommendation.

The Ministry will have one month from the date of referral to study the bids and issue a technical recommendation. The project will then be awarded to the company that submits the most competitive and compliant offer, in line with all required technical and contractual specifications.

The project forms a key part of Kuwait’s efforts to expand and modernize its water infrastructure, improve water quality, and meet the growing demand for reliable desalinated water resources.
