The Azerbaijan Airlines (J2) flight 8243, en route from Baku to Grozny in Russia’s Chechnya, diverted due to adverse weather in Grozny.

Tragically, it crashed near Aktau airport in Kazakhstan. The plane carried over 72 people, including crew members, as confirmed by the airline. Only six passengers survived,according to Kazakhstan’s Emergencies Ministry.

Eyewitness accounts and video footageshared on social media showed the aircraft descending rapidly, turning into a fireball upon impact.

List of People onboard the Plane

Azerbaijan Airlines has disclosed the complete passenger and crew list for flight J2-8243 operating the Baku-Grozny route. The manifest confirms 62 passengers and 5 crew members were aboard the flight.

The passenger breakdown by nationality shows that 37 Azerbaijani citizens formed the majority, followed by 16 Russian citizens. The manifest also lists 6 Kazakh citizens and 3 Kyrgyz citizens among the travelers.

The five crew members operating the flight include Igor Kshnyakin, Aleksandr Kalyaninov, Hokuma Aliyeva, Zulfugar Asadov, and Aydan Rahimli.

Similar Incident

In a separate and similarly tragic incident, a small aircraft crashed in Brazil, claiming the lives of all 10 passengers and crew onboard.

The plane struck a residential area in Gramado, injuring over a dozen people on the ground. Local reports suggest the aircraft hit a chimney before crashing into a building and a mobile phone shop.

The victims included members of the same family traveling from one town in Rio Grande do Sul to Sao Paulo state.

While the exact cause of the crash is still unknown, it underscores persistent risks in aviation, particularly in adverse conditions and urban areas.
