AU students experience Wi-Fi 7 in action at Jaber International Stadium

Students and faculty staff from Australian University (AU) recently gained valuable hands-on experience with next-generation wireless technology during an educational visit to Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, Kuwait’s premier sports venue and one of the region’s earliest adopters of Huawei’s Wi-Fi 7 technology.

The visit, organized with Huawei, the Public Authority for Sports, and Ooredoo Kuwait, gave AU students and faculty unprecedented access to explore the stadium’s state-of-the-art Wi-Fi 7 deployment – a regional milestone in network innovation.

During the visit, AU students and faculty staff participated in interactive sessions led by Public Authority for Sports and Huawei experts, gaining insights into the transformative capabilities of Wi-Fi 7, which delivers throughput speeds of over 30 Gbps – approximately three times faster than Wi-Fi 6.

The technology’s implementation at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium is the first site in Kuwait that showcases how advanced wireless solutions can enable high-density connectivity for tens of thousands of concurrent users in smart venues.

Dr. Mohammed Abdul-nibiy, Dean of the College of Engineering, commented: “Seeing Huawei’s Wi-Fi 7 technology in action gave our students and faculty staff a clear understanding of how next-gen networks work in real-world environments.

With our Huawei ICT Academy and the dedicated datacom lab at AU, this visit enriches the experience by connecting academic learning with practical application.

We sincerely thank the Public Authority for Sports for granting this opportunity, which enhances our partnership with Huawei and allows both students and faculty staff to not only learn from the lab and curriculum but also witness how such technologies are deployed in actual environments.”
