Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya affirmed that the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the French Republic will deepen the strategic partnership between Kuwait and France.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) today, Al-Yahya emphasized that the visit comes at a critical time amid rapidly evolving regional and global challenges, underscoring the importance of reinforcing bilateral cooperation.
The Foreign Minister described the Amir’s visit as a reflection of the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations and a shared commitment to expanding collaboration across multiple sectors to advance mutual interests. He noted that Kuwaiti-French relations span more than six decades, built on a foundation of constructive political understanding and long-term cooperation.
According to Al-Yahya, the visit includes high-level discussions with senior French officials and the signing of several key agreements and memoranda of understanding. These agreements cover a wide array of fields, including infrastructure, education, defense, and culture, highlighting the diversity and strength of the bilateral relationship.
The Foreign Minister also reaffirmed Kuwait’s view of France as a trustworthy international partner, noting the alignment of both countries’ positions on many regional and international issues. He said the visit is expected to open new avenues for political, economic, and investment cooperation, in line with the goals of Kuwait’s National Development Plan (New Kuwait 2035).
Al-Yahya pointed to ongoing coordination between Kuwait and France in international forums, and expressed gratitude for France’s consistent support of Kuwait’s sovereignty and security, particularly during critical periods in the country’s history. The visit, he concluded, lays the groundwork for a renewed and more dynamic phase in Kuwaiti-French relations.
