AmCham Kuwait brings business and community together for Iftar
The evening began with a warm reception and networking over instrumental Arabic music, followed by a traditional buffet as the call to prayer signaled the breaking of the fast.
AmCham Kuwait held its Annual Iftar Dinner at the Crowne Plaza Al Thuraya City, welcoming members, partners, and special guests to the Al Baraka Grand Ballroom for an evening of Ramadan celebration.
The event opened with a warm reception and pre-Iftar networking, set to the soothing sounds of instrumental Arabic music. As the call to prayer marked the beginning of Iftar, guests enjoyed a generous buffet featuring a variety of traditional Arabic dishes.
The formal program kicked off with opening remarks by Ola Saab, AmCham Kuwait’s Events Chair. She welcomed the guests and introduced AmCham Kuwait Chairman, Pete Swift, who expressed gratitude for the attendees’ presence and highlighted the significance of Ramadan as a time for reflection, unity, and generosity. Chairman Swift also recognized the valuable contributions of the U.S. Embassy, Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospital, and the special guest artists showcasing their work.
Following Swift’s remarks, U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Steven Butler took the stage to share his thoughts on the importance of community and generosity during Ramadan. AmCham Kuwait Board Member, Anwar Al Mutlaq, then spoke about the deep-rooted traditions of Ramadan in Kuwait, emphasizing the values of reflection, hospitality, and charity that are central to Kuwaiti culture. He highlighted the spirit of giving that defines the month and the power of bringing diverse people together to celebrate unity.
Paola de la Roche, Executive Director of AmChamKuwait, followed with acknowledgments of the event’s generous sponsors and a recognition of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives by AmChamKuwait members. The CSR presentation included a video showcasing the community efforts of AmCham members, followed by a special recognition of the event’s main sponsors: IFA International Travel & Tourism, Jazeera Airways, Brinks, Saudi Arabian Chevron, Shell, and Toronto Trading Company.
As the night progressed, a traditional music performance added to the ambiance, allowing guests to socialize and enjoy the cultural atmosphere. A highlight of the evening was the highly anticipated raffle, offering guests the chance to win exciting prizes provided by the event’s sponsors.
The evening concluded with a raffle draw featuring a wide array of prizes generously contributed by sponsors. Best Al-Yousifi offered fifteen vouchers redeemable for home appliances, while Crowne Plaza Kuwait presented a variety of experiences, including a pool pass for two, a dining voucher at Al Noukhaza Restaurant, and a one-night stay with breakfast. Four Seasons Hotel contributed a voucher for an Iftar experience for two at the elegant Jawaher Tent, while Holiday Inn & Suites Salmiyaoffered two weekend stay vouchers inclusive of breakfast at Al Diwan Restaurant.
Hyatt Regency Al Kout Mall treated winners to an indulgent package including four buffet experiences for two, a massage of choice at Vertix Spa, and an overnight stay in a Junior Suite with breakfast. Union Trading Company contributed a Galanz 8KG condenser dryer, while Atsawag by Mezzan Holding provided four shopping vouchers. Amal Beauty Salon offered five service vouchers covering hair, nails, braiding, and eyelash treatments. American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret, and Nagwa delighted attendees with fashion and fragrance gift cards, hampers, and more. Dining experiences were offered by Asha’s, Babel, Chipotle, Raising Cane’s, and Shake Shack, while Pinkberrysweetened the evening with frozen dessert vouchers. Tristar Motorcycles donated three exclusive red and white checkered kutra helmets, an officially approved Kuwaiti design and a cultural keepsake.
In addition to these fantastic prizes, the evening’s grand prizes included economy class tickets from Jazeera Airways to a range of exciting destinations. One lucky winner took home a complimentary economy ticket to anywhere in the world, courtesy of IFA International Travel and Tourism.
As the evening drew to a close, Vivian Almehdari, the MC for the raffle, congratulated the winners and expressed heartfelt thanks to the sponsors for their support, wishing all attendees a blessed Ramadan.
