Al-Yousef discusses security cooperation with U.S., India, Pakistan envoys

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, held separate meetings today with the ambassadors of the United States, India, and Pakistan to discuss enhancing joint security cooperation and exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual concern.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said that Sheikh Al-Yousef and U.S. Ambassador H.E. Karen Sasahara reviewed key security matters and explored opportunities for greater cooperation, particularly in the areas of training and information exchange.

During the meeting, Brigadier General Saud Mohammed Yousef Al-Sabah was honored for his significant contributions to strengthening U.S.-Kuwait security relations and his role in advancing coordination under the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) framework.

Ambassador Sasahara expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and praised the enduring partnership between the two nations. She affirmed the United States’ continued commitment to enhancing security and institutional collaboration with Kuwait.

In a separate meeting with Indian Ambassador H.E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika, discussions focused on boosting bilateral relations, especially in the fields of security cooperation, crime prevention, and expertise sharing. Ambassador Swaika reiterated India’s interest in expanding joint efforts to serve shared interests.

Sheikh Al-Yousef also met with Pakistani Ambassador H.E. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, where the two sides discussed regional security challenges and ways to reinforce bilateral cooperation in addressing them.

Ambassador Iqbal commended Kuwait’s contributions to regional stability and expressed Pakistan’s readiness to deepen its security partnership with the Ministry of Interior.
